The Freezer for 29 May 2007

The US Soccer Fragility Index, known as the Freezer, is the anti-power poll. Here we rank the most feeble, the most tenuous, and the overall weakest things in US Soccer. It's the second most feared list in US Soccer behind the Alexi Lalas "Dial-A-Cliche."

After a week off, the Freezer debuts at its new time-slot (Tuesdays after Gray's Anatomy). There was a lot of movement over the past two weeks. Two get off the list entirely, and one and a half make their debuts. Lots of change in the overall rankings as well. Plus, I've indicated a few things that aren't in the freezer, but are on the watch list...

Did you notice, D, the 'SkyCam' for the Chicago-RBNY match?

I think we know where the offside line money went.

Alexi should really be some where in the freezer for pretending that he had any power at all to stop Beckham from playing in friendlies. Oh, and the fact that his "superclub" is tied with RSL for dead last.

Emilio: I wonder if United would have signed him (his type of striker) if they'd known they'd have to change the system to save the defense. If they'd known, maybe they would have spent the extra money for zippy winger Ruy instead.

I know I'm as guilty of premature glee over Emilio after champions league games as anyone, and it simply may be he's not as good as I thought, but he looked as good atop the 3-5-2 as he looks ineffective in the 4-4-2.

(Though he did look more active with the new kid this past Saturday than he did with the old.)

No WAY Chicago should be above the proverbial line right now. They are in a seriously dire way right now.

Totally disagree with number 1, that BASTARD Sepp Blatter should be number 1 for the BS altitude ruling!!!!

Sean: Hmmmm... you know...

Kinney: Alexi may find himself there sooner rather than later. I mean, I personally would value Yallop higher than Lalas, but I wonder if the Powers in LA see it the same way?

Goose: Well, there are 13 spaces, and I couldn't justify bumping anyone for Chicago just yet. But in Colbert fashion, they're on notice.

Anon: Sepp Blatter does not qualify as within the purview of the US Soccer Scene. He certainly belongs on a World version of the Freezer, with Mr. Warner right next to him

Might want to keep an eye on Andy Dorman for this chart. That might be hard with how invisible he's been in May.
