Gedankenexperiment
In all the build-up to the announcement of the 23 players to make Team America: Bruce's Police, not much attention has been paid to the ten alternates that will be named. Most people go with five or six names, but if the list is ten, wouldn't it be fun for Bruce to add, say, I dunno... Freddy Adu's name. After all, Freddy has been starting for DCU, and playing well. Just the flamewars on Big Soccer alone would be entertaining. And, for Bruce, there's pretty much no chance he'd be called on to use Freddy. What say you all? What names would you like to see Bruce put on the alternate list, just for the sake of saying "thank you for playing" or just to annoy overly serious soccer fans?
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me to see John O'Brien listed as an alternate, allowing further time to evaluate his health to see if he can make it when the eventual training injury does occur.

If Chris Albright is named anywhere but on the alternate list, a good 3/4 of United fans may go absolutely crazy.
Name I'd love to see on the alternate list: Brad Friedel
CVS: Game, Set, Match.
I-66: So totally correct on both points, but I'm afraid we may be disappointed on Albright.
o'brien is injured again:

Oscar: Right, but it's not clear how badly injured. Could be a tweak, could be bad news.
Alternates will be:
Reis, Meola
Berhalter, Conrad
Klein, Noonan, Ralston, Zavagnin
Ching, Rolfe
Scaryice: Very reasonable choices (though I'm with I-66 and would want Friedel over Meola).
I'm guessing Ching will get the call over Twellman and Conrad will get the call over Berhalter. Call me crazy.
Argh! How the hell did Ching make the team? There's no way he gets off the bench.
Michael N. - Hard to call you crazy now, but...
Paul - Agreed. Not sure about Ching over Twellman, but I agree on Conrad over Berhalter.
I am livid about Ching. The only reason I can think of for Ching is that maybe he's a better guy to have in the locker room? Dunno. He's been on fire in MLS this season, but Twellman got the golden boot and has performed SO MUCH BETTER at the national level. Also, Twellman seems kind of like the classic "young guy that can provide a major spark offensively." The role was played beautifully by Beasley in Korea. Can Ching do this? He seems like the guy you bring in to put away pinpoint crosses and clean up garbage rebounds, but he can only do this in MLS. Argh.
