Yes, I know. Celtic is in preseason form. They were resting their internationals. Hartson didn't play. It really doesn't matter. Even in preseason, a team is looking to build on something. DC lost to Getafe in Spain earlier this year, but there were hopeful signs in that game that DC built on. Celtic has precious little. I counted three chances for Celtic all night, even after our team was pretty much comprised of players who have a combined total of about 8 mins in league matches this season. Shocking.
It feels good. Not the greatest win over international competition (will anything ever top the Interamericas Cup?) but certainly a strong one. DC was definitively the class team out on the pitch. Celtic looked like they could have lost to the Crew.
What a fun night. Fun fun fun (rainy) fun fun night.

as a two year fan of United that was for me the most exciting game to date. I am so pleased that we get to play these friendlies against world renowned teams. And even though I looked silly cheering DC United in a Celtic Replica (gotta show my appreciation) it was a sweet sweet win and another beautiful win
A two year fan and this game is more exciting than the playoff win over the Revolution in 2004? Me thinks you're not a two year fan, maybe year and a half tops.
Well, let's be fair to anon... I was too nervous until after the PKs to be excited by the ECC win over the Revs... This game was just a celebration from Walker's strike onward. I was sitting behind at least 3 soccer newbies, who had been taunted on their way to the stadium, and they were suddenly thrilled to see the home side come out winning. It was quite an exciting game, and certainly the best I've felt leaving the stadium since the ECC. It might be the same for Anon.
