The DCenters: 7 Hours Ahead of the Curve (and other housekeeping)

GAIN TIME: Kinney alerted me to this last week, so I want to take a moment now to point out just how in-tune with the zeitgeist (teamgeist?) the DCenters is. In the wake of the Chivas match at around 12:15 AM, we wrote:

I think that the greatest thing I can say about D.C. United is "there are no more moral victories." Such things are not possible for a team that can play as well as this one can. There are only wins. And defeats. This was the latter, but like our victories we show class in defeat. There are no moral victories because we know we can win any game. Moral victories only come when defeat is assured. We lost. But I never want to hear again that we are doomed to defeat if we play in Mexico. We just haven't done it yet. There will be a first time.

In the Soccer America daily briefing the next morning, Ridge Mahoney wrote:

There are no moral victories at D.C. United. Losses are just that, nothing more, yet at the Estadio Jalisco Tuesday night it attained some semblance of triumph for itself, its fans, and its league.

The timestamp seems to be 7:00 AM. That's right, if you read the DCenters, you will know the conventional talking points for MLS about a quarter of a day before the rest of the world. It's an accomplishment, of a sort.

NOT ME: For those that read either the DC Sports Bog or Soccer Insider, I wanted to let you know that if you see comments from either "d" or "d, dc" it isn't me. I do occasionally comment there, and I'll try and figure out a way to tag myself in some obvious way to limit confusion.

No, we have no idea, but if this blog helps get you off or facilitate communication, well, I suppose we'll take credit for that.
