Clinical Trial: Bobby Convey > Landon Danovan

We all remember how DCU alum Bobby Convey didn't start for Reading his entire first year with the squad. Yet despite that, he stayed with the team and worked his way into the starting XI, helping earn his club promotion. At that point, noting Bobby's willingness to fight through some tough times, people openly wondered "Hey, maybe Bobby's better than Landon, especially in terms of mental toughness." Well, what if a top flight German team were to take him on? That would make the comparison more apples-to-apples, no? Well, such things may be possible (though personally, I can't imagine Reading being willing to part with Convey right now).

Hamburg has shown a lot of confidence in the American player.

First bringing Feilhaber and Zimmerman into their reserve teams and now making a move for Convey.

Oh no! A Landon Donovan/Bobby Convey comparison. The can of worms of all cans of worms! The topic that has ruined more BigSoccer threads than any other. Nooooooooooo!

Allow me to sum up: Landon is a big p***y. No, Landon is the best
American player. No, Landon is wasting his talent. No, Landon has a right to live his life the way he wants to. Landon screwed up at the world cup. No, Landon didn't play any worse than anyone else. You're an idiot. Well, you've obviously never watched a soccer game. I'm from Germany, and I think Landon's sooo cute. No, Landon looks totally gay in that photo where he's drinking from the water fountain. Well, he's the one dating the hot TV star. No, she's no star, and she's no that hot. You wouldn't know hot if it bit you in the ass.

OK, whew, we've got that out of the way now. Moving on then....

Slightly on topic: Ryan Nelsen, according to a blurb on DCU website, is out until the new year after an operation to fix a bad hamstring.

Reading is ambitious: Hamburg would have to pay over Convey's real value for Reading to let Convey go.

Well what do you expect? Landon basically said in a (Com)Post article when L.A. came into town that he's perfectly fine being a big frog on a small lilly pad.

If that's what he wants, that's fine, but he should give up the mantle of "best American soccer player" because of that.
